Campaign Against Rape During War

Witnessing the violence during wartime committed against women, that disables not only these most important nurturing members of our human family, but also their children and families, SWO and members of civil society are calling for protective legislation.  We are asking every government of the civil societies to treat rape during war, whether civil or international, as a war crime punishable by international law.

Open Letter:

We the members of the civil societies, witnessing the violence during war time committed against women, and thus disabling not only these most important nurturing members of our human family, but also their children and families, are asking every government of the civil societies to acknowledge rape during war, whether civil or international, to be treated as a war crime punishable by international law.

Such violence is against all moral and ethical human laws, values, and principles; it belittles our humanity and destroys its foundations. You, as the head of governments, do not permit such crimes against your own family. And as the head of governments you are responsible and should stand for all and every member of the human family, be it your friends or enemies.

Thus we, the members of the civil societies, ask you, the governments of the world, to acknowledge rape during war, whether civil or international, as war crime, punishable by law. So together we may ensure the safety of women and their children during war.
