"International Association of Sufism Sacred Visions Research Project Summer and Fall 2005"

The purpose of this research is to bring two faith communities together to explore ways in which Zen Buddhist and Sufi sacred traditions, practices and discourses contribute to building a social vision of sustainability and justice. We will develop narratives that focus on the way that Sufism and Buddhism motivate involvement in service and ways in which these faith visions are transformed by working alongside others of a different faith.

The members of the research team are Arife Ellen Hammele, Ph.D., Ms. Hamaseh Kianfar and Amineh Amelia Pryor, Ph.D.

The team will develop narratives that focus on the way that Sufism and Buddhism motivate involvement in service and ways in which these faith visions are transformed by working alongside others of a different faith.

This study is being funded through a grant from the Marin Community Foundation and in conjunction with Dominican University and Green Gulch Zen Center.
