Rumi & Rilke: feasting on Soul & Spirit

Why should I seek? I am the same as
He. His essence speaks through me.
I have been looking for myself!
– Rumi

My eyes already touch the sunny hill, going far ahead of the road I have begun.
So we are grasped by what we cannot grasp; it has its inner light, even from a distance –
and changes us, even if we do not reach it, into something else, which, hardly sensing it, we already are…
– Rilke

FEBRUARY 9, 2013 (1:00 pm)

Come join Terri Glass for a discussion on the lives and poetry of Jelaluddin Rumi, and Rainer Maria Rilke. Their work will serve as inspiration to fuel writing exercises that center around a particular theme. Get in touch with images that stir your soul and find a new way to articulate unconscious material and bring it to light through the writing process.

Attendees will have the opportunity to leave with:

  1. Knowledge of the lives and poetry of two world renowned poets born in different eras, with very distinct backgrounds and styles
  2. Inspiration to explore, practice and write their own poetry
  3. Connections within the community on others inspired by poetry and seeking to transcend essence into words

This program is designed for poetry lovers, spiritual seekers, people interested in exploring and developing their own creative writing, people looking for inspiration in their life, and those wanting to learn more about Rumi and Rilke’s lives and poetry.  All ages are welcome and the event in open to the public and is free.
